The Golden Triangle

The commercial hub of the city contains the Petronas Twin Towers and has an interesting nightlife. Shopping complexes, western restaurants and glitzy clubs are among its attractions

Petaling Street

The Chinese Night Market area (Chinatown) is a favourite place for tourists looking for bootleg clothes and accessories.

Typical of Chinatowns, there are medicine shops with jars of dried roots and herbs, and other products of less salubrious origins. There are tea houses and art shops, coffin makers and hidden temples, pet shops and flower vendors. A large number of stores sell cheap clothing, and backpacker accommodation is plentiful here. Chinatown is definitely a focus for tourist.

Trading starts early in the morning, before the onslaught of the peak hours. By night, the whole street is closed to traffic and transformed into a bustling market place selling a mind boggling selection of fake designer goods, music discs and computer software, the latest film releases, T-shirts, clothes and jewellery. This is one of the liveliest shopping areas in KL and brings out the real excitement of shopping in Malaysia.
